Billing
Questions |
|
As of January 1, 2006, Dr.
Matthew A. Johnson's ("Dr. J") stopped taking insurance
payments. He does not work with insurance companies at
all. Matter of fact, he will not bill insurance
companies on your behalf. If you decide you want to see
him via his private practice, you will also agree not to
bill your insurance company for services provided by Dr.
Johnson. In a nutshell, Dr. Johnson is tired of being
ripped off by insurance companies and he's tired of them
interfering with his client's treatment.
The good news is that
although Dr. Johnson only takes "cash out of pocket" for
services provided (i.e., Checks, Cash, or Credit Card),
he has a very generous sliding fee scale. You will be
expected to pay for services at every session you
attend. No balances will be kept or owed. If you would

Mental Health Emergencies
|
|
If you have a mental health emergency, contact your physician, or go to the emergency room at the hospital of your choice, or call the police for a safety check if you have reason to believe that someone is suicidal and they are refusing to seek professional help. The police may end up escorting the suicidal individual to a hospital where they will be kept safe until they are okayed by a psychiatrist to be discharged.
Note: If a person is possibly suicidal, it is always best to lean in the direction of taking their expressed suicidal thoughts seriously rather than write it off as attention seeking behavior (i.e., it's better to be safe than sorry). Encourage the individual to go with you immediately to seek professional help from a mental health provider. If the troubled individual refuses to seek professional help, call the police immediately and request a safety check. |

F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Rules Parenting Seminars
|
Dr. Matthew A. Johnson ("Dr.
J") is licensed by the State of Oregon as a clinical
psychologist. He has been working in a variety of settings
with children, adolescents, and parents since 1982.
"Dr. J" has a parenting program
nick-named "F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rules".
He teaches "F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rules" to
parents via his private practice or in seminar settings to
help them provide adequate discipline in the home for
children and adolescents. Conflict is significantly
reduced for all.
"F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rules" helps parents
to teach their children and adolescents how to respect
authority in the home, at school and church, and in the
community. Parents like "F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Rules" because it helps them not to yell at their
children. The kids like "F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Rules" because the system of discipline helps to
clarify parental expectations (i.e., rules) and they know
that their rewards and consequences are going to be based
on their behaviors and choices.
If you are interested in attending a "F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Rules" Parenting Seminar, click here to view the
current schedule.
If you are interested in learning "F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Rules" via counseling sessions or would like to have
your church, school, PTA group, or other civic
organization host a "F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Rules" seminar, please contact "Dr. J" at:
